With your stories, it gives an error “RegSvr32” Failed to load module some.dll. Make sure the binary remains in the specified path, or debug the product to check for issues with dependent binaries or DLLs. » Has your car gone crazy? • 64-bit Regsvr32.exe uses a little trick: if you remember you are trying to register a 32-bit DLL, the phone will automatically call Regsvr32 32-bit.exe!

This is a reassuring little solution from Microsoft, and it works great if your files stay in a different folder.

How do I fix regsvr32 error?

Open an elevated command prompt. If the 32-bit DLL is located here in the %systemroot%System32 folder, move it to the %systemroot%SysWoW64 folder.Run the following command line: %systemroot%SysWoW64regsvr32

We can identify this magical event in Process Monitor:

In a 64-bit command line, we are accessing 64-bit references of regsvr32.exe (no path is in a 64-bit process looking for your path).

The 64-bit version of regsrv32.exe detected that the DLL is exactly 32-bit, and for us it is automatically considered 32-bit regsvr32.exe.

How do I register an ocx file in Windows 10 64-bit?

Click on this Windows ball to open the Start collage.Enter the “Regsvr32” command, where is the full path and filename of the OCX file you want to register.Wait for confirmation that OCX was registered in the volume where you did not run Regsvr32 in automatic mode.

But when the 32-bit regsvr32.exe accesses the current working file %windir%system32, it is automatically redirected to %windir%SysWOW64 where there is no DLL.

regsvr32 the module failed to load ocx

You will definitely decide to update and finalize the DLL in the actual System32 folder and be wary of the full regsvr32 path %windir%sysWOW64regsvr32.exe, but you will both get the same error for the same reasonse.

The solution is not very complicated, all 32-bit DLLs that are in the System32 folder must be placed in the SysWOW64 folder on each 32-bit system and there.

    Windows Explorer Extensions/Plugins

Warning: If your DLL is designed to extend Windows Explorer with a real context menu or property pane using certain file type extensions (FTEs), you can register property sheets as 64-bit, but 64-bit Windows Explorer will ignore the registry key in which these types of registries are placed because it simply cannot load 32-bit DLLs in its own 64-bit process.

Stop Scratching Your Knees On A 64-bit Pavement 😉

This is definitely one of the few things we’ve collected in an e-book called Application Deployment and Support on 64-bit Windows.

It’s exceptionally affordable and I’d be happy to bet it will save you hours and hours and hours of knee scraping!

The ocx module is usually found in the system32 directory. I was considering using the full path to the main file that gets run when resvr32. As stated in Microsoft Help
